For those arriving by automobile there are a number of routes into the city
If you are coming from the south or east, cross the St. Lawrence River via the Champlain Bridge. Signs at the exit from the bridge indicate the way to Centre Ville (Downtown). This route brings you right on to Robert-Bourrassa Boulevard. Turn left on Sherbrooke Street West. The McCord Museum will be on your left.
If you are approaching Montreal from the west along TransCanada Highway 40 or Highway 20, you should follow the signs saying Centre Ville (Downtown). These will lead you on to the Autoroute Ville Marie. Almost immediately, signs will indicate right hand exits; take the Rue Guy exit bringing you directly on to St-Marc, which runs north to Sherbrooke Street. Turn right on to Sherbrooke, and in less than a mile you will come to the McCord Museum (at the corner of Victoria Street).
