External Day Camps

Enjoy fun, creative activities as you explore history with your groups of children ages 5 to 12. Designed for external day camps!

MEET THE FIRST PEOPLES OF CANADA

Travel across Canada, from north to south and east to west, to meet the first peoples. Mohawk, Haida, Inuit and Plains peoples share their stories. Each legend links the objects on display with the know-how passed down through the generations over thousands of years.

Let the journey carry you to the heart of these rich Indigenous cultures!

You can combine this tour with the following activities: Corn Husk Doll and Meet an Indigenous Artist.

JOURNEY TO THE ISLANDS OF THE PEOPLE

Throughout history, art has ensured the survival of the Haida people. On the “islands of the people,” they created a unique artistic language. Carved and painted boxes, living masks, finely woven baskets, complex songs and dances, refined tattoos and imposing totem poles, Haida art continues to be enriched by contemporary artists.

HAIDA MANGA

Haida Manga is a contemporary comic style that explores the formline tradition and the stories of the people of Canada’s west coast by adapting contemporary Japanese manga techniques.

During the workshop, the children create a collective comic strip.

Length: 60 minutes

DOUBLE-THE-FUN WEDNESDAYS

Enjoy the best of both worlds —social history and natural science— in the heart of Montreal. Spend half the day at the McCord Museum and the other half at the Redpath Museum. Both visits will feature scientific and artistic activities.

Wednesdays only.

Cost: $12 per person*
Capacity: 60 children
Length: 90 minutes at the McCord Museum, lunch break,** then 90 minutes at the Redpath Museum.
*Counsellors admitted free
