Educational Activities

A Week at the McCord Museum

This project offers primary school Cycle 3 students in Montreal a unique opportunity to spend an entire week at the McCord Museum.

The activities that make up the program include an introduction to the institution and its collections, a tour of current exhibitions, and an exchange with a Museum curator. Together with Museum facilitators, the students explore the Museum’s halls and discover some of their city’s lesser-known neighbourhoods. In a workshop, they learn the basics of photography and produce a large composite photo inspired by Notman’s work. They also create a mini-museum in a box, in which they display a collection of objects that illustrate the social realities that affect their lives.

To wrap up their week of discovery and creativity, the students proudly present their achievements in a Museum exhibition attended by family and friends.

To take part in this project, classes must be eligible for the support program Une école montréalaise pour tous. To learn how to apply, please consult the project description.

This project is made possible through a financial contribution from the McCord Museum Foundation and its generous donors.
