Summer is a time to create, have fun and explore! The McCord Museum day camp excels at providing children with what they need on vacation: play, movement, the outdoors, excursions, and above all, fun.

From July 2 to August 23, 2019

A bilingual day camp for children ages 5 to 10, is A.C.Q. certified and includes a daycare service. This summer, two themes will allow children to develop their know-how: Fun with Photography and From Coast to Coast to Coast.

Themes

Fun with Photography

Children will enjoy learning about different photographic techniques like darkroom printing, polaroids and cyanotype (blueprinting) as they collaborate on a collective work. Other activities on the agenda are a photo rally and sharing stories around memory-filled albums!

From Coast to Coast to Coast

From Montreal to Nunavut to Haida Gwaii, children will become familiar with some visual languages of Canada’s First Peoples and create a work inspired by Haida manga.

CAMP HOURS

  • Camp activities: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Daycare service: 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. / 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Theme trip: Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (parents are invited to be accompanying-volunteers for the trip, please inform us if you are interested)
  • Exhibition of the work of the children: Friday at 3:30 p.m.

MORNING ARRIVAL

  • Use the Museum entrance located at 2175 Victoria Street, Montreal, H3A 2A3
  • The Camp Coordinator and animators will welcome you with games and activities in J.A. Bombardier Theatre
  • Please note that Victoria Street between Sherbrooke Street and President-Kennedy Avenue is closed to traffic during the summer and is accessible by footpath.

FORMS TO BE COMPLETED

IN YOUR KID’S BACKPACK

  • Hat or cap
  • Sunscreen for your child
  • Two snacks
  • Cold meals for lunch (no microwave on site)
  • Clothing adapted to the temperature (and spare parts)
  • Comfortable shoes or sandals

PROHIBITED MATERIAL

  • Foods containing nuts or peanuts
  • Clothing displaying negative or violent messages
  • Treats
  • Games or toys from home
