Photographic practice in Montreal: Its current state, challenges, and future
In the context of the exhibition Notman, A Visionary Photographer, presented until March 26, 2017, the McCord Museum is examining the development of contemporary photographic practice in Montreal. What has happened to Notman’s favourite themes of innovation and technology, communication and social networks, art and dissemination?
Hélène Samson, curator of the exhibition, will host this round table discussion and will attempt to put Notman’s work into perspective in the company of Michel Campeau, internationally renown photographer, Marisa Portolese, photographer and associate professor at Concordia University’s Photography program, and Josée Schryer and Jean-François Hamelin, photographers and co-founders of Photobook Club–Montreal.
Panel discussion in French followed by a bilingual question period. Free and open to all.
Location: J. Armand Bombardier Theatre at the McCord Museum
