Sam Borenstein and the Jewish Painters of Montreal: A Look at their Era
Screening of the film The Colours of My Father, which recalls the artistic contributions of the Jewish Painters of Montreal, a particularly influential community in the Canadian art world of the 1930s and 1940s. Director Joyce Borenstein will talk about her film and the work of her father, painter Sam Borenstein.
Art historian Esther Trépanier will provide an introduction, discussing the themes addressed by the artists and presenting several major cultural figures.
Presented in relation to the exhibition Shalom Montreal: Stories and Contributions of the Jewish Community.
