Double screening of the films Notman’s World and Nadar, photographe

In the context of the exhibition Notman, A Visionary Photographer, the McCord Museum invites you to a double screening which will put into relation the great Canadian photographer and Nadar, the renown Parisian portraitist who, like Notman, also built his reputation on insightful and intimate portraits of well-known urbanites.

Produced by the National Film Board on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the birth of photography, Notman’s World details the life and work of one of the most important Canadian photographers and paints a picture of 19th century Montreal. This short documentary features Stanley Triggs, previous curator of the McCord’s Notman archives, and the voice of Nora Hague, also of the McCord Museum. The screening of Nadar, photographe will follow. This second film is an homage to the famous photographer who immortalized many members of the Parisian bohemian intelligentsia.

The film Notman’s World will be presented in English only, while Nadar, photographe will be in French only.
