Documentary Screening: Territoire Ishkueu Territoire Femme
For the last eight years, the Festival de contes et légendes Atalukan, held in Mashteuiatsh (Pointe-Bleue), Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean, has sought to revive oral traditions, a foundational part of Indigenous culture. This Claude Hamel documentary dives into the universe of eight female storytellers through their festival performances.
The poetry and words of these inspiring artists, including Joséphine Bacon, Natasha Kanapé Fontaine and Festival director Sonia Robertson, are a celebration of primeval forces, a wonderful world of legends and compelling stories all accompanied by beautiful Innu songs.
