Adopt-an-Artefact
The McCord Museum Foundation is pleased to offer our generous friends a unique opportunity to reaffirm their commitment to their city and heritage. The Adopt-an-Artefact Program offers you the opportunity to "adopt" twenty-five exceptional artefacts from the new permanent exhibition, MONTREAL - Points of View, at three different contribution levels: the eleven youngest artefacts can be sponsored for $1,000 each, the eight oldest objects for $2,500 each, and finally the six "Curators' Favourites," may be adopted for $5,000 each. Ranging from tools to luxury items, used in the past by children or adults, Aboriginal furriers or opulent Saint Catherine Street merchants, these treasures represent the past material environment of Montreal in all of its exuberance and diversity.

How Your Donation Helps
The Museum has over 1,440,000 objects, images, and manuscripts, all of which have important stories to tell and deserve to be made available to the public. These artefacts are at the heart of what makes the McCord experience unique, but they also represent one of the Museum's greatest challenges since one third of our annual budget is dedicated to their meticulous conservation. About 30% of artefacts are significantly damaged, and therefore cannot usually be exhibited or incorporated into education programs due to their fragility.
With your help, the McCord can implement long-term strategies to evaluate the Museum's artefacts and can develop ambitious new programs in conservation and restoration, which will prevent the deterioration of the collection and help restore the rarest of artefacts. Your support will help us develop richer exhibitions and more innovative cultural programs and will contribute directly to raising the local, national, and international profile of the Museum. Long-term participation in the program is one of the best ways to make a difference for your Museum and your community.

Personalized Recognition
The McCord Museum offers a number of personalized services to donors participating in this program. We guarantee that the adopted artefact will be featured in the exhibition for a minimum of one year, and that the adoption of an object will be exclusive for five years. Donors also gain free access to Museum, all exhibition openings, and to two special events: the Curators' Cocktail, and special evening for our generous Adopt-an-Artefact participants.
