The McCord Museum serves up a fun-filled menu of historical discovery for Montreal Matters 2004!

Montréal, Thursday, September 30, 2004 — For a third year in a row, the McCord Museum joins Montreal Matters in exploring issues relevant to Montrealers. Inspired by the 2004 topic of FOOD, the McCord is offering appetizing activities and an exhibition designed to whet your appetite for historical discovery. Both bilingual events take place at the McCord Museum (690 Sherbrooke Street West) and are included in the price of admission. Bon appétit!

• The family activity Tea is Served! starts off in the exhibition Turning the Tables. Under the pretense of setting a 19th-century table, children are asked to find mystery utensils in the exhibition. Later, children discover the ritual of serving tea and create clay cookies that look good enough to eat. The activity Tea is Served! is offered every Sunday in October from 10 am to 12 pm. • The exhibition Turning the Tables invites visitors to explore the world of the dining table. With its beautiful place settings, elegant manners and tightly scripted social rituals, the dining table represents a world of passion, politics and savoir-faire. Turning the Tables explores this culturally charged universe of intrigue and emotion through thematic displays of tableware and decorative arts. An exhibition produced by the Musée de la civilisation, Québec, Turning the Tables is on view at the McCord during regular Museum hours:  Tuesday through Friday, 10 am to 6 pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm.
