The Eye, The Hole, The Picture
This exhibition has ended
An artist, curator, and author, Luis Jacob uses a surprising variety of shapes, subjects, and media in his art practice. His concern with social relationships and with the artwork as potential catalyst for these relationships nevertheless traces the clear line of his multidisciplinary approach. His most recent work, Album X (2011), a series of images cut out from various printed sources, and Cabinet (Montréal) (2011), which he has created for Le Mois de la Photo à Montréal from the McCord Museum’s collection of photographs, engage a rich visual reflection on ways of looking, awareness of our multiple framings, fear of the void, and the image as site of intersubjectivity.
