Description
Notman photos taken prior to 1870 show numerous variations on simpler styles, such the McCord Museum's dress (M6327.1-3), and bouffant models, like Mademoiselle de Saint-Ours's peach-coloured evening gown (M969.1.11.1-4). But puffed overskirts predominate in both 1870 Archives photos (as in this cabinet photo of Mrs. A. Rivers from January/February) and fashion plates from that year.
