Reading Through Archives: Time of War, Separation and Migration
What lessons can your students learn from past events such as World War I, when Montrealers were struggling to cope with separation and grief and new refugees were arriving in Quebec in search of asylum?
Invite a Museum guide to your classroom, and take your students on a trip back in time to the Montreal of 1914-1918 through archival documents and a multimedia screening that tell the stories of people’s individual experiences.
In a workshop setting, ask your students to link today’s reality with the past and to reflect on the actions they can take to better welcome newcomers scarred by war and grief.
