From fairy tales to play, a walk through a child’s imagination

Les Belles Soirées

Even today, most children are fascinated by the tales of Perrault and Grimm. What is it that they find so wonderful and deeply human about these accounts that they insist on hearing them over and over? Children have an amazing ability to make up adventures and, through play, connect with the themes portrayed in these stories. We will attempt to share this wonder by listening to the creative, unexpected ideas brought forth by storytellers and the imaginations of children, while stimulating our own capacity for invention and introspection.

Lecture in French by Michel Lemay, PhD, child psychiatrist and Université de Montréal professor emeritus. He wrote Forces et souffrances psychiques de l’enfant (éditions Érès, 2016).
