From Furs to Stone: The Inuit Collection at the McCord Museum

Join Guislaine Lemay, Curator of Ethnology and Archaeology, as she discusses the Museum's Inuit collection, how it was acquired, and its historic and contemporary significance both in the Arctic and in Montreal.

A Lecture Inspired by the Exhibition Inuit Modern*

February 29, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

One Inuit notion of art refers to the usefulness and functionality of objects. Guislaine Lemay, Curator, Ethnology and Archaeology at the McCord Museum and Marie-Pierre Gadoua, researcher in Inuit Studies and doctoral candidate at McGill University will present their collaborative research project with elders from various Inuit communities.

Theatre Piece: State of Denial

A production by Teesri Duniya Theatre
March 15 to April 1, 2012

A new production inspired by the immigrant experience and refugee stories of Montreal is offered in conjunction with the permanent exhibition Montréal - Points of View.

State of Denial is an outcome of CURA research project titled Life Stories of Montrealers Displaced by War, Genocide, and other Human Rights Violations at Concordia University. The play has been developed at the Banff Centre for the Arts, with additional development at Playwrights Workshop Montreal.
