Shalom Montreal Concerts: Tonnes

Shalom Montreal

Tonnes is an experimental, heavy band that dabbles in many idioms yet dwells in none of them. We explore the dark side of aesthetics, sound and imagery. Our last EP features the piece Dybbuk, which translates loosely to Demon in Yiddish. Written in the harmonic minor mode employed in Klezmer tradition, the piece is a sonic meditation of the darker, mystical side of Judaism.

Featuring members from all over the country and from Australia, Tonnes is led by musician/artist/author Matt Lee, a Plateau native who has experienced many aspects of the Jewish life, from Torah student to anarchist.

Free activity
Location: Victoria Street, between Sherbrooke Street West and President-Kennedy Avenue
Unless otherwise indicated, concerts will be cancelled in case of rain

Every Wednesday of July and August, concerts in relation with the exhibition Shalom Montreal: Stories and Contributions of the Jewish Community are presented at lunchtime in the beautiful space of the Urban Forest.
