Shalom Montreal Concerts: Ora Cogan
Ora Cogan is a unique artist who inhabits a sonic space somewhere between shoegaze, folk, dark-wave & experimental. Her new album Crickets was released on Hand Drawn Dracula in November 2017. Ora has performed and recorded everything from gospel to noise, psychedelic rock to electronic music as a multi-instrumentalist & songwriter.
Cogan is from an Ashkenazi Jewish family and her work is deeply influenced by music, art and literature of her heritage. Her trajectory as an artist took a turn towards the strange and surreal in 2010 when she recorded her album The Quarry inspired by her journey to Poland, her relationship with her ancestors and the work of Polish author Bruno Shulz.
Location: Victoria Street, between Sherbrooke Street West and President-Kennedy Avenue
Unless otherwise indicated, concerts will be cancelled in case of rain.
Every Wednesday of July and August, concerts in relation with the exhibition Shalom Montreal: Stories and Contributions of the Jewish Community are presented at lunchtime in the beautiful space of the Urban Forest.
