Spring Break at the Museum
From March 4 to 11, 2018, children are invited to take part in a spring break program featuring workshops, stories and treasure hunts that promise to engage them and spur their imaginations and curiosity. Extend family fun at the McCord Museum by completing your visit of the toys exhibition The Topsy-Turvy Storyland with a host of activities specially designed for families. Free for children 12 and under.
My First Fantasia at the McCord Museum
From Wednesday, March 7 to Saturday, March 10, 2018, at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. for children ages 3 years old and up.
Music, freedom, humour and originality are featured in a selection of short films for children—a rerun of last summer’s My First Fantasia series at the McCord Museum. Learn more.
Snowballs and Chocolate – Special Screening
Sunday, March 11, 2018, at 11 a.m. (original French version), 1 p.m. (dubbed into English) and 3 p.m. (original French version) for children ages 5 years old and up.
Screenings of the film The Dog Who Stopped the War (1984), in partnership with Lab Québec Cinéma.
The children’s classic The Dog Who Stopped the War, which has touched the imaginations of many children (some of them now parents), will be shown on the big screen at the Museum on a day to celebrate winter. “War is no reason to get hurt.” Hang on to your tuques! Learn more.
Every day for children age 3 to 12 years old.
Any time from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., children are invited to drop in and construct pop-up cards featuring miniature characters inspired by the toys exhibition The Topsy-Turvy Storyland. Learn more.
Every day for children ages 7 years old and up.
From 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., a Museum guide, inspired by the work of photographer Michel Campeau, will present a brief history of photography with the help of various cameras that children are invited to handle in the hall of the photo exhibition Michel Campeau: Life Before Digital. Learn more.
Every day for children age 3 to 10 years old.
At 11:45 a.m., 1:45 p.m. and 3:45 p.m. (in English) and 11:15 a.m., 1:15 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. (in French), children will be enchanted by traditional fairy tales reimagined for today in The Topsy-Turvy Storyland toys exhibition’s magic library. Learn more.
These game cards allow families to explore the Museum and discover the collections in a playful way. Finding geometric shapes, flowers, animals and hidden characters in the exhibition turns the visit into a treasure hunt.
