A Week at the McCord Museum

The McCord Museum is raising funds to finance its fifth edition of A Week at the McCord Museum.

This educational program, offered free of charge, is for Montreal elementary school children. Created in collaboration with Cycle 2 elementary school teachers and the organization A Montreal School for All, the aim of the program is to encourage students to stay in school.

For one week, classes follow their school curriculum at the Museum where they discover the collections and the work of our curators. These young Montrealers enjoy a stimulating immersive educational experience that is adapted to their needs and focuses on school subjects and the objects in our collection. The students learn while exploring an environment most of them have never seen before.

By the end of the program, the students have developed social connections that foster self-esteem. They’re more open to others and our community and better prepared for their role as future citizens.

AN EDUCATIONAL AND CREATIVE PROGRAM TO ENCOURAGE MONTREAL STUDENTS TO STAY IN SCHOOL

PREVIOUS EDITIONS

In 2017-2018, the Museum organized three weeks for grade five and six classes. Students were able to enjoy the program through the generous support of our donors: Ivanhoé Cambridge, The Rossy Family Foundation, TFI International, Valero Energy and Zeller Family Foundation.
